Title
Boston Lodge Top Yard.
Boston Lodge Works Top Yard, viewed from above the sandpit, very probably during the closure period in the late 1940's. The yard is littered with machinery and components. There are various slate waggons of both iron and wooden construction. At the foot of the show the Bomb Trolley is visible next to the cluster of discarded wheelsets. The chassis in front of the three wooden slate waggons in the centre of shot has unusual axleboxes - and based on an earlier photograph it was evidently used as an ambulance for waggons undergoing repair. Double Balcony Brake Van No. 7 is on the curved road. Behind it are 2-ton wooden and iron coal waggons, 4-ton coal waggon No. 99, and a Horse Dandy chassis (probably No. 41).

This photograph records the wooden slat fence between the yard and the mainline, and the adjoining gates marking the boundary between the railway's property and the Cob (Madocks' Estate).
