Title
Linda down Minffordd Coal Hole.
Linda down Minffordd Coal Hole. Keith Catchpole driving. The locomotive is unaltered from Penrhyn and this shot was taken during the summer of 1962 not long after arrival. Standard-gauge waggons are being unloaded via two chutes, the more robust metal chute serving the nearer road, whilst the wooden makeshift chute sits above in order to reach the further line where the ballast train sits.

The narrow-gauge waggons are of various sorts, both Old Company and those recently acquired second hand. Those behind Linda loaded with coal include all three of the ex-Smith type D Bocoal bogie waggons Nos 60, 61, & 62, Old Company coal waggon No. 165 (formerly 22) and the two granite side tipper waggons 17 & 18 (subsequently 160 & 161, historic numbers 848 & 830). The granite train waggons are all converted from 3-ton slates, the red example being fitted with a steel body instead of the usual wooden planking. The volunteers working with shovels suggests Linda had bottomed out in the dirt, and room is being made before it hauls the loaded waggons up the steep bank.
