Taliesin (I) outside Boston Lodge Engine Shed, 1923. The locomotive is in its final year of service before withdrawal, the boiler being condemned in November. The locomotive would only be dismantled the following spring, but the company board then refused to purchase a new boiler. Boyd asserts that the locomotive was reassembled for light duties only for a couple of years but evidence of this is yet to emerge.
