Russell at Nantmor Station, 1923 in early WHR days. Note the goods siding. The short train comprises one ex-NWNGR Ashbury corridor carriage and 4-wheel Brake Van No. 4 (converted from Mk3 Quarrymen's carriage and fitted with dual air and vacuum brakes). Uniquely amongst the converted brake vans it was not rebuilt with a balcony - retaining its side door being primarily intended for passenger workings, although it was given end windows. Russell has yet to be cut down, and is still fitted with Westinghouse pump brake.
Source. Postcard 'Mrs Parry, The Shop, Nantmor' bought in August 1949 by Peter Jarvis.
