Clearing snow during the big freeze at Tan y Bwlch, New Years Day 1 January 1962. The works train consists of Moelwyn, Simplex Mary Ann, and single balcony Brake Van No. 2. This was sent to Tan y Bwlch with supplies as the road from the Oakeley Arms was closed, and likewise through Rhyd. This period also saw a large volunteer gang from Cambridge University lifting the remaining bullhead rail from Moelwyn Tunnel for use elsewhere on the mainline.
