Title
Ashbury Bogie Carriage No. 26.
Date
29/11/1958
Ex-WHR Ashbury summer carriage No. 26 arrives at Boston Lodge, 29 November 1958. General Manager Allan Garraway inspects the vehicle, which still bears the cast iron WELSH HIGHLAND Rly, on both sides, and the enamelled class plates (red letters & border on a white ground). This had been in use as a chicken hut at Groeslon. Upon arrival this carriage was placed onto two slate waggon chassis and transported to Boston Lodge pending repairs. The Ashbury bogies from the soon to be scrapped FR No. 21 (which was similar in design) were subsequently placed under this carriage. It is seen here outside the old carriage shed in Glan y Mor Yard. The two sister carriages to this vehicle and No. 23 (Nos 27 & 28) were still in existence at this time, but regrettably were not rescued.
