Title
Earl of Merioneth (II) approaching Glan y Pwll Crossing.
Earl of Merioneth (II) approaching Glan y Pwll crossing with a Down train, 1983. Note the white disc and bogie stripes. As it had no brightwork and was almost entirely black at the front, these were mandated for the benefit of PW staff working out on the line. The fireman is Nigel Dant, meaning that the driver is Evan Davies.

The locomotive is hauling A-Set; Observation Car No. 101, Tin Car No. 120, Buffet Car No. 103, prototype aluminium bogie carriage No. 116, and Tin Car No. 118. Note the Red Star parcels livery over the luggage door of No. 101. The Mini Van parked up on the road belonged to Norman Gurley, and its presence suggests he was out and about with his camera. A train of standard-gauge goods waggons can be glimpsed in the ex-LNWR exchange yard. To the right is Glan y Pwll School.
