Title
Glan y Pwll.
Glan y Pwll looking towards Craig Nyth y Gigfran circa 1878. Dinas Junction can be glimpsed in the background on the left with its double semaphore signal. Nyth y Gigfran Incline ascends the mountain side from left to right. The rails are still in place, but the winding house is derelict (roof missing and drum possibly removed). The photograph also provides a rare view of the upper trwnc incline which accessed the higher levels. The footpath up to the quarry can also be seen, note the steps to the right of the semaphore signal. In the far distance on the left can be glimpsed Moelwyn No. 3 Incline on the slopes of Moelwyn Bach.

In the foreground on the extreme right stands Tyn y Coed Oakeley Quarry Hospital with Capel Rhiw beyond it to the left on Glan y Pwll Road, with Hospital Road cutting across the bottom of the picture. Note the traditional slate slab fencing running across the picture in the centre.
