Small Birmingham No. 11.
Date
01/08/1958
Small Birmingham No. 11 and Bowsider carriages Nos 17 & 20 at Porthmadog Harbour Station, 1 August 1958. It has been taken out of storage, probably from the goods shed.

This 4-wheeler carriage, along with its sister No. 12, was originally built as a fully open carriage (originally numbered 12 & 13), but was later rebuilt with a conventional body. Both of these 'porthole' carriages were in poor condition when the line re-opened and, unlike the other Birminghams, did not re-enter service. No. 12 was scraped in 1958. The original vehicle underneath would survive to be rebuilt at Tony Hill's home at Bickenhill near Birmingham by the Midland Group. Thereafter known as the Flying Bench.
