View of Rhiwbryfdir quarries and inclines taken by Frith circa 1871 looking along Pont Goch (WSCo Oakeley Viaduct) in the centre from Glan y Don tips. The FR Dinas Branch lies hidden in the defile beneath the bottom-most incline. This extraordinary view captures the vast scale of the slate industry, and the immense waste tips that resulted. The photographer is stood above the road over the Crimea Pass (today the A470) adjacent to Llechwedd.
