Title
Rhiw Goch.
Rhiw Goch circa 1962. This is an interesting scene showing the location prior to the construction of the passing loop. The substantial PW hut seen here was supposedly the best hut for fire raising. Serious consideration was given to building the desired passing loop at Gysfa instead of here. However the amount of civil engineering required outweighed the benefit of having the loop more evenly positioned in the Min-TyB section. The wider formation here was ideal, having originally been a passing loop and stable during the horse-drawn era. It was just far enough up the line to work within the timetable as a passing place for trains.
