Baldwin 590 at Beddgelert Station with a footplate guest circa 1937. A young Gerard Wakeman is posing on the footplate alongside driver William R. Williams for his father's camera. This photograph was likely taken during the summer of 1936 towards the end of passenger services on the WHR. The goods shed is on the right, with the oil and lamp store on the left. The mountains in the distance are collectively known as the Nantlle Ridge.

Baldwin 590 at Beddgelert Station. WHR.
Taken on the same day as iBase 3110, with the same bottles in the rear window, and the same position of the spectacle plate opening, side rods and cranks. The ground shadow and weather are also identical.
These photographs were given to Adrian Gray by the late Gerard Wakeman, his former Physics teacher at Bootham School, York. They were taken by his father, H Wakeman and the young visitor seen above is Gerard himself. The comments Gerard's mother made about his father putting him onto the footplate in his white socks and light coloured coat were a detail Gerard remembered, but decided to keep private!
