Merddin Emrys shunting waggons at Porthmadog Harbour Station, 1938. The vehicle next to the locomotive is one of the early wooden 2-ton coal waggons (almost certainly No. 40) fitted with inside bearings (the same vehicle that was left in Harbour Station next to the goods shed during the closure period). The 2-ton slate waggons are fitted with disc wheels. Note that the waggon partially in shot is of wooden construction whilst the waggon being ridden by the shunter is made from iron.
