Title
Wrysgan Incline Junction below Tanygrisiau Station.
Date
16/04/1954
Wrysgan Incline Junction below Tanygrisiau Station, 16 April 1954. Note that the route is set for the incline sidings. A solitary 2-ton slate waggon guards the entrance. The curve of the siding follows the course of the original route, the sharply curved abandoned formation of which can be seen in the background. The huge dry stone walled embankment seen here and other improvements along the route (notably the two tunnels) bypassed some of the more awkward sections of the original Henry Archer approved route. Cwmorthin water fall is a prominent and constant feature in a landscape that has changed almost beyond recognition since this photograph was taken.
