Derailment at Whistling Curve, 4 July 1902. 2.15 mixed train from Portmadoc to Blaenau Festiniog, a pair of covered goods vans overturned (possibly due to incorrect loading) followed by several other waggons, including slates and iron 3-ton coal waggons. Note how the unfitted slate waggons beyond the primary derailment have pilled up over the track.
