Old Moelwyn Tunnel South, 19 March 1961. The track into the tunnel marked the end of the old route, the track from Tunnel North to Tanygrisiau having been lifted four years earlier. No train will pass through again. The extreme loading gauge of the tunnel, built well before thought was given to steam locomotives or passenger traffic, is well demonstrated by this photograph.

Correctly captioned 'south end' but AG believed it was north.
