Porthmadog Harbour with Paddle Tug 'Wave of Life', 22 July 1908. Built 06/1872 by Hepples of Newcastle upon Tyne for the Portmadoc Steam Tug Co. Registered at Caernarfon. Continued at Portmadoc until the First World War then sold to a Liverpool firm and converted into a canal barge. Scrapped in 1935.

In front of the tug are a pair of two masted schooners tied up side by side, typical slate carriers. Note the loaded 2-ton slate waggons beside the vessels. Wharf siding and discarded packing/ballast timber in foreground. Moel y Gest in background.
