Tanygrisiau Station, 1953. The abandoned and partially stripped 20hp 4wDM locomotive is Ruston & Hornsby 21095. It was owned by contractor WO Williams of Harlech and was used for the demolition of Moelwyn Granite Quarry between June 1952 to January 1953 (one of the lesser known operations on the FR during the closure period). Note the waggon turntables giving access to the goods shed.
Residents of station cottages (long since demolished) are visible in distance. The two waggons in the loop are probably from the last demotion train: FR granite waggon (converted from 3-ton slate) and a braked bogie truck out from under one of the Feldbahn waggons which were acquired ex-German military for Brookes traffic. A couple of these were abandoned near that quarry upon closure (a photograph of one of these waggons at the foot of Wrysgan Incline is likely showing activity in connection with the demolition work).
