Early view of Tanygrisiau village viewed from the Cefyn Road. Note the traditional slate fencing in the fields. The railway can be plainly seen crossing the Cwmorthin Road (at this time via a gated level crossing) and heading down towards the site of Cwmorthin Incline sidings. The presence of what looks like a signal post at that location suggests that this has been built by the time of this photograph, although it is difficult to make out its course on the hillside from this angle. At the far end of the station a semaphore signal can be plainly made out. There is no obvious sign of either the station buildings or Wrysgan Incline. The puts the likely date during the 1860's before either were built. Notably, the houses of the later Glanyrafon Terrace are nowhere to be seen. The buildings visible in the distance on the left are probably the iron foundry complex.
