Title
Pont Goch (WSCo Viaduct).
Pont Goch (WSCo Viaduct), September 1921. The left hand pillar still retains the earlier stayed tubular metal frame (plus angled wooden supports to the bridge deck) whilst the other pillars straddling the LNWR have been rebuilt in brick. The decking for the span over the LNWR has also been reinforced with steel sections. Spion Kop Incline and drumhouse are prominent top left. The LNWR (today's Conwy Valley line) runs along the valley floor, with the southern tunnel mouth in the background. The Dinas Branch runs to the left of the stone wall. The photograph has been taken from Glanydon tip.

The course of the buried incline to Rhiwbryfdir (by now Oakeley's Gloddfa Ganol middle quarry) can be traced on the left hand side of the valley in front of the left hand buttress. Note the iron coal waggon on the curved stone embankment under the viaduct. Although the Rhiwbryfdir spur connection was removed, the high level still connected the shorter WSCo incline on the other side of the viaduct to Oakeley's transshipment wharf with the LNWR via this headshunt.
