Jane & skips derailed at Dduallt, February 1976 Jane and skips have rolled off the track, note dip in rails.
Landslip mud doesn’t tip like rock! NFG . FRM 158 Tunnel rock was comparatively easy to tip, but when there was the landslide at the tunnel entrance we were suddenly handling sticky mud. The first batch in the morning, loaded the previous evening had congealed into a solid mass. Skip number one, when tipped by the full 'job creation' team went over the edge, chassis and all. On this occasion all the couplings remained coupled, and one by one as if in a slow motion replay, all the skips went over, followed eventually by Jane.
