Groesffordd & Glan y Pwll viewed from Oakeley Tip. Probably taken on or around 1 August 1974 based on the inscription on the rock bottom right. At the foot of the tip lies the original formation and triangle loop line for the Dinas Branch. To the right of the junction is the connection to Nyth y Gigfran Incline, which ascends up the mountainside to the right of the camera. The Afon Barlwyd runs away south towards Groby Junction and Bodychain, both of which can be glimpsed in the distance on the right.

The old running line is still intact and there is a temporary deck on the river bridge. At this time however a road has been bulldozed across the track to Groesfford House (long since destroyed by fire). The old running line was lifted in the Tanygrisiau direction from a short distance below the river bridge in May of the following year.

The Metcalfe Catering Equipment factory is prominent in the centre of the picture beyond the mainline. Beyond this is Oakeley Square and the former route of the Groby Branch which curves left out of site prior to entering the quarry. In the far distance stands the large Rehau factory.
