Prince and Pickering Brake Composite on the Cambrian Crossing, 1923. The locomotive has been turned to face the WHR. This is a press photo (Topical Photographic Agency) and gives a good view of the signal box at this location. The ex-NWNGR Pickering brake composite is yet to be cut down to FR loading gauge, but is fitted for vacuum. Note the GWR Signalman with the flag and the wooden post in the angle of the two lines which held a gong to warn of trains. This gong was removed 1923 after a phone was installed in the cabin. Linesman atop telegraph pole.
