Baldwin 590 at Porthmadog New (North) Station, 11th August 1934. There is a small traverser jack on the front running plate. The train comprises Ashbury summer carriage No. 26 (semi-glazed and lettered), Ashbury corridor No. 25 (single safety bars, large iron grab handles), Pickering Brake Composite No. 8 (twin bars on 3rd class), and a Hudson Toastrack (either 37 or 42 by this date).

Note the stooks (sheaves of cut grain-stalks) in the field to the right, and the private owner standard-gauge waggons standing on Beddgelert Siding. Moel y Gest dominates the background.
