Title
WHR waggons outside Dinas Carriage Shed.
WHR waggons outside Dinas Carriage Shed shortly before disposal circa September 1941. These vehicles are stood on the curved headshunt with the furthest waggon parked near the buffer stop. The two nearest waggons next to the corrugated iron roofed hut are box slate waggons. These vehicles were also used for coal to some of the quarries, and possibly for general goods as well. The next waggon is one of the dedicated crate-type slates, one of the variety that had narrow wooden frames and wide iron superstructures, which needed wooden spacing blocks to join the two (nicely visible in this view). Further examples of this waggon type can be glimpsed in the distance. In-between are two larger 3-plank waggons, which are thought to have been side tippers. The nearer has a fixed sides, the further looks as though it is hinged and can be lowered.
