Merddin Emrys on down train at Tan y Bwlch station, 1938. Brown Marshalls Van No. 5, followed by bogie carriage No. 15, Bowsider No. 19 or 20, and Small Birminghams Nos 12 & 5. Bessie Jones the station mistress is stood beside the van in traditional Welsh dress.

The man in working overalls and cloth cap walking down towards the locomotive appears to be carrying the single-line staff token. This marks him out as one of the rostered crew. iBase 2689 shows that Merddin's fireman on this occasion was G. Harry Jones, which presumably makes the man seen here the driver, probably Tom Davies.
