Title
Boston Lodge Bottom Yard.
Boston Lodge Bottom Yard, January 1955. The works is still largely derelict in this scene, although rolling stock has been brought in for repairs and inspection. Brown Marshalls bogie carriage No. 15 to the right on 2-Road has been shunted closer to the Erecting Shop to accomodate Curly Roofed Van No. 3 (evidently in a terminal state of disrepair), with Brown Marshalls No. 16 yet to be moved in the background. Gunpowder Van No. 152 can also be glimpsed, having formerly been outside the Erecting Shop doors on 2-Road.

Note the waggon turntable on 3-Road, which provided access to the diagonal right angle track (visible beside No. 15) across the yard (giving access to 1-Road and on towards the Top Yard). This sections of yard railway was laid underneath 2-Road, which in turn was laid with removal sections that could be taken out when the right angled tracks were needed.
