Large iron 3-ton slate waggon No. 277. One of more than two hundred and fifty wagon built of this type from 1868 onwards at Boston Lodge Works. The rated load was 3 tons 15 cwt. Note the sprung ratchet mechanism on the brake handle. This series of photographs were taken on Boston Lodge turntable above the halt.
