Title
Little Wonder on Creuau Bank.
Little Wonder on Creuau Bank circa 1871. The future site of Tan y Bwlch Station is in the far background. The mixed train shows many of the early wooden open goods waggons and two iron horse dandy waggons repurposed to carry coal. Note the two waggons with the white stripes (either side of possible gunpowder van). Other photographs suggest that these markings denote waggons owned by the Welsh Slate Company (later Oakeley). Only WSCo enjoyed this unique agreement with the FR to transport their private owned waggons.

The passenger section consists of three 4-wheeler Ashbury carriages, two closed and one semi-open Small Birminghams, a sentry box brake van and many empty slate waggons. Upon very close inspection, the early Brown Marshalls 3-ton waggons were evidently built with swan neck brakes instead of the later ratchets. This is the only known photograph to show them in this condition.
