File metadata
An early view of Samuel Holland's upper quarry (Gloddfa'r Gesail) above Rhiwbryfdir circa 1871. These are the earliest workings, and the incline in the foreground is already abandoned (but has been repurposed to carry reservoir water pipe). This entire scene has been obliterated by the later Oakeley operations, and only by reference to the older maps and the dry stone boundary wall on the hillside can the approximate location be traced. The photographer is facing south west towards the southern shoulder of Allt Fawr above Craig Nyth y Gigfran.
